Threads for Thought: The Red Watch

If you are anything like me, having just the bare essentials when it comes to watches is a feat in and of itself. So when I suggest that you venture out of the wrist wear comfort zone, its definitely something to take note of. There are the well known classic faces in black, blue, and white, and the traditional furnishings in silver, gold, and a variety of leathers.

Change it up! There was a study done into the most eye catching color out there way back when, and guess what won. Yellow, and for that reason taxicabs are almost all that color, but I don't recommend throwing it on your wrist. So what color came in second? Red, that's the color that your watch collection has been in need of to change everything up.

Red is going to give off the sporty look and hence usually feature silicon or leather bands, but it won't be to hard to find a solid option in metal. I warn you though, do not get a red G-Shock! Nothing against the Casio spin off, but those indestructible timepieces are made to be beat up, not be a part of your luxury wrist candy. With that said, make sure the piece you opt for is accented with red, and not "Holy hell that's red".

Here are some examples (in descending price) brought to you by the one and only World of Watches:
Chopard: $7,920
Ferrari: $625
Oceanaut: $298
Invicta: $170

Wardrobe Essentials: The Black Polo

Being prepared is the key to any wardrobe, and an experienced fashion bug will tell you to always have a backup plan in the car, whether it be a spare shirt, blazer, or jeans. Or even the travel situation where you might not have the room or the need for a suit but want to throw in something that can be dressy if called upon.

The savior for these situations comes in the form of the black polo. Its not a shirt, so it can be dressed down for the beach bar and easily dressed up by giving it a quick tuck. Its sporty enough to be worn for some tennis or a round of golf and professional enough to be worn under a suit jacket. Essentially, the black polo provides a lot of versatility in a very simple form.
Hugo Boss: $105
There is no one polo flagship in my opinion. Every men's clothier makes polo's so its up to you to find the one that fits just right and stick with it. My personal preference has been found with Hugo Boss whose polo's are very fitted and usually feature a tonal pattern. That's another point that needs to be made in shopping for a black polo; opt for the one that has some character to it and not just straight black. You have to remember that style is about standing out by looking good and nothing says "I'm trying to blend in" better than a plain black polo.

Here are some solid options for your black polo game:
Burberry: $250
Ralph Lauren: $98
J. Crew: $43

Tech Tuesday: iCar

No, this isn't a car developed by Apple and no, this is not about the Toyota hat once belonged to Steve Jobs. This is about the technology we've all been waiting for in our cars which hopefully leads to less starring at your phone in your lap (you know you do it, don't lie to yourself) and more driving like a responsible, safe driver.

Apple CarPlay is essentially a new way to interact with your phone in the car. A new center console unit will feature all the functionality of your iPhone 5, 5C, or 5S while limiting its capabilities to the essentials like maps, music, and phone abilities. The user interface, as with all Apple products, provides a streamlined look with easy-to-use controls. All you have to do is plug your phone in and all the info will be available on the dash console of your car.
This looks like a Volvo or Hyundai dash, very classy!
This product will be rolling out on select makes and models this year with many more to come in the future. The initial launch group consists of Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, and Volvo but with many, MANY more to come. This product will be a huge success for Apple and you'll see a reinvigorated stock price because of it, but I am more interested in seeing how other phone and technology companies attempt to compete with Apple.

Check in tomorrow for essential style pieces in your wardrobe and next Tuesday for some exciting new tech!
