Celebrity Sunday: Lionel Messi

One of the biggest (if not the biggest) soccer star around also happens to be 22 years old and is captain of the Argentinian national soccer team. He has called Barcelona his home for quite some time now and is well known for his nimble feet and ball-handling abilities that are next to none. If you Googled the list of most stylish soccer players, Messi would consistently appear in the top 5 and probably top the list depending on the site you find. And because of this, various publications and fashion houses have featured him in their magazines and marketing. Be sure to watch him in action July 9th against the Dutch for the semi finals of the World Cup!

Friday Faux Pas: Lose the Bottom Button

Suits and sport coats are quintessential pieces when it comes to the men's fashion world, but they also happen to be the easiest to mess up. There are a number of ways for you to botch the whole thing, but there is one in particular that you're not even thinking about that will not only look bad, but also ruin the suit.
This is not how to button your suit.
Most men think that because their jacket has 2 or 3 buttons means that you have to use all of them, but this is more faux pas than most of the topics I have brought up previously. Yes, the buttons are there and the button holes are functional, but like your steaks off the grill today, LEAVE THEM ALONE! On a two-button suit, you should only be using the top button and for a three-button jacket, you should utilize the middle button and extremely sparingly use the top button when its windy or blizzarding.
Take notes, class.
Rule of thumb for any number of buttons on a coat is to use the one that is at or above your belly button and this is on purpose so that the fabric can fall naturally while you go about your day. The more you button it up, the more constricted and the more tug the suiting will experience, warping the silhouette and permanently altering the piece in a bad way. So for the sake of your style and the sake of your jacket, forgo all the buttons and literally do the bare minimum.
Thanks for leading the way Leo!

Threads for Thought: Suspenders

The standard guy out there uses a select few furnishings on the daily, ranging from ties, belts, pocket squares, and then other pieces that are associated with ties (tie bars, clips, collar bars, etc.). That's been the status quo for far too long, and staying too long in one spot, when it comes to fashion, is a bad idea. That's why this accessory needs to be revived from your grandpas closet and put in its new place with your wardrobe.
There aren't very many rules, just do what's comfortable.
Suspenders aren't foreign to anybody, they just haven't seen their heyday since the 1950's, but seeing that men's wear is heading down the Mid-Century Modern facade, its about time we bring them back. My advice, ditch the belt for a couple of days and rock the suspenders to see what kind of remarks you get; if people call you Steve Urkel, maybe donate them to someone else. In a world wear everything is fairly simple, go for a set of braces that has some flare to them with an unusual pattern, eye-popping color combo, or unique leather. Just don't break the bank for them, you'll want the extra money for revamping your fall?winter wardrobe.
