Wardrobe Essentials: Blue ChexMix

There never seems to be enough shirts in your closet to accommodate the styles that your brain cooks up; a feeling of "I wish I had"s or "I need to get"s overwhelms. No closet exists that can accommodate all the shirts out there (although GQ's fashion closet tries mightily), so versatility is key in this battle of style preparedness.
The shirt you'll find that most completely adapts to your entire wardrobe comes in the form of a blue check. Similar to the versatility of a navy blazer, a blue check shirt can be thrown on and effortlessly exude style when all else fails. An all blue shirt would over power most outfits while all white will fade to background, but when the two combine in a gingham or window pane or tattersall pattern, it will grasp attention while accenting other pieces of your garb.
The most important decision is the type of collar to choose and should mirror the typical shirt you would wear day-to-day. If your go to is button downs, then go with that, and the same goes for semi-spread collars. However, a cutaway collar would take away from the versatility of the shirt, so even if that's your style, maybe opt for a normal or semi spread model. From there, find a pattern that works best for you, just make sure to keep it simple and limited to 3 colors at most (preferably just blue and white).

Tech Tuesday: The Bannister Shoe by Vivobarefoot

Vivobarefoot is not a company known for their stylish attributes to the footwear world, but they do make one of the best "barefoot" shoe on the market without being toe shoes. But their new Bannister model is breaking the boundaries between form and function by providing that free-foot feel while maintaining a luxe look. If you compared the Bannister in black to Gucci's black leather sneakers, you would find only a price difference; they are practically identical. This English and Portuguese product is available in black, brown, and white, I personally like the Black and Tan combo.

Monday Outlook: Hunter Turquoise

Fall and winter usually means very withdrawn and neutral heavy palettes that aren't exactly awe-inspiring. Layering of patterns and fabrics is the usual way of going about a creative style in the colder months, but there has been a movement in a new color that was once reserved for women's clothing.
Thanks to a darker remix of this bluish-green shade, turquoise has bridged the gap over to menswear, and it's looking very sharp. No doubt, indigo and navy are going to play a significant role in your closet for years to come, but when done correctly, there's no reason turquoise won't vibe wonderfully along side. And even without the navy, turquoise will provide a much needed pop of color to your gray and brown suits that have been collecting dust in your closet.
Even though this is going to be a nice color addition for you, I doubt that this trend will stick for very long, so don't go buying a turquoise suit or other investment piece. Find a shirt or a lightweight sweater that will easily layer into fall and winter, or even play with the accessories like scarves, ties, and pocket squares that you won't have to think twice about. Don't let the color dominate you or your outfit though, wear it with subtlety so that it draws the eye closer, distinguishing the other pieces around it.
