Monday Outlook: Double Breasted Outerwear

This past spring marked the return of double breasted suits and sport coats, featuring a mid-century style that was popular throughout this year's trends. Guess what everyone, they aren't going any where and will be evolving to fit the colder conditions.
A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned something about a trench coat and it needing to be in your closet. Well this piece is the quintessential double breasted outerwear piece, but you won't have to limit yourself to just this classic; you will be able to find your favorite parkas, car coats, name an outerwear piece, it'll be coming double breasted. Other than the added style a double breasted piece will give you, it will also add that little bit of fabric to keep you that much warmer.
If you already have classic outerwear in neutral shades like tan, grey, navy, or black, then its time to splurge on something a little more exciting (and double breasted). Get something featuring an eye-popping color or gritty plaid or the combination of both, and start working it into your outerwear rotation. If you don't have those classic backups, then you should take it nice and slow, get something that you'll be able to wear for plenty of winters to come.

Friday Faux Pas: Man Leggings

The trend as of late has been towards the skimmer side of things, with jeans, trousers, chinos, and any other form of pants getting trimmer and more form fitting. The is however a fine line between slim fit and skin tight fit (aka leggings).
This is a thing...please stop this this thing.
I have seen these leggings sprout in one of two circles, the extremely fit and the extremely punk/gothic. The big guys want to show off their newly found quads after a hard leg day while the dark and dismal look to find the skinniest things they can get their hands on. Simply put, the male anatomy is not designed for the only bottom layer of clothing to be skin tight; we have much more going on than women and unless you have a dying need to show off what the good lord gave you, just stop with the leggings. Instead, loosen up a little bit, let the boys breathe! It's OK to have some room in your pants, just make sure the leg openings are tapered properly.

Check in tomorrow for a stylish celebrity influence and next Friday for the next installment of my fashion faux pas!
